Farmings 2020 Vision

Suffolk FWAG will concentrate on the industry 2020 vision at its Spring Conference to be held on Friday 13th February.

FWAG,The Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group, has branches across the UK. These groups have helped British farmers for over four decades by providing trusted, independent environmental advice.

The Suffolk Group kick off the conference season with an indepth look at how agriculture will meet its targets on issues such as water quality, farmland birds, pollinators and long term sustainability.

It will also question whether a  new CAP, a new Countryside Stewardship Scheme, the introduction of greening and EFA’s will actually help farmers deliver increased environmental benefits whilst still  running a profitable, sustainable business? Are the new policies, regulations and schemes an improvement on the old ones?

You can find more details about FWAG via their website, and details of the Suffolk group Spring Conference is here.

Produce more using less, farmers told

DEFRA Secretary Hilary Benn has unveiled a Government blueprint for food policy that will present significant opportunities and challenges for farmers over the next two decades.

Launching the Government’s long-awaited ‘Food 2030’ strategy at the Oxford Farming Conference this morning (Tuesday, January 5), Mr Benn said things can no longer carry on as they are.

The way food is produced, consumed and disposed of will all have to change over the next 20 years in response to a future in which climate change, global demand for food and competition for natural resources all become increasingly important.

One in Four apply liquid fertilisers

fastcap_esi_liquid_fertilisAccording to a survey conducted at this years Cereals Event, one in four farmers are now using liquid fertiliser.

The poll of farmers growing an average of 663 Ha of crops, also found that almost a quarter (23%) were using Hypro’s FastCap ESI nozzle, making it one of the most popular spray delivery methods.

Popular for two main reasons: ESI’s have six jets for even distribution; and its compact size and fitting onto standard nozzle bodies, Hypro product manager Roger James reported that sales of the ESI nozzle “have gone from strength to strength in the Uk and overseas markets”

And we can report that here at Agratech, the ESI nozzle has been a sell-out in the last few weeks! Our new stock is due any day, so order your ESI nozzles now to avoid disappointment!!
