Economic Downturn affects Sprayer Availability!

CP3-ClassicSome Knapsack Sprayer manufacturers will be regretting their decision to decrease production, as suppliers stuggle to find stock to meet customer demand!

Those decisions, made earlier this year in response to the economic downturn, coupled with INCREASED demand for both sprayers and parts, means that many models and their associated parts are in very short supply.

We have had some parts out of stock for over a month now, and with long continental holiday shutdowns, factories are unable to provide any firm dates for replensishment.

We will of course advise any customers who order parts that are out of stock and will suggest alternatives where appropriate.  You are welcome of course to contact us to check availabiltyby emailing us sales@agratech.co.uk and we will do our best to help you!

Spray Pattern Images – Guardian Air vs. Billericay Bubble Jets

Hypro have released some images of the results carried out in a comparison test of their Guardian Air nozzles, against Billericay Bubble Jets.

Showing the spray pattern on water-sensitive paper, the images show  that the Guardian Air Nozzle produce twice as many spray droplets than its competitor nozzle.

According to Hypro Calculations,  that means 20-30,000 additional droplets per ml of spray at 3-Bar pressure; thus making them so effective and popular.

Much anecdotal evidence has been provided by customers who have switched to Guardian Air Nozzles, and been impressed by the results, and this material will form part of the next batch of Promotional Information from Hypro.

The Images show the nozzles in use at 3,2 and 1 Bar.

One in Four apply liquid fertilisers

fastcap_esi_liquid_fertilisAccording to a survey conducted at this years Cereals Event, one in four farmers are now using liquid fertiliser.

The poll of farmers growing an average of 663 Ha of crops, also found that almost a quarter (23%) were using Hypro’s FastCap ESI nozzle, making it one of the most popular spray delivery methods.

Popular for two main reasons: ESI’s have six jets for even distribution; and its compact size and fitting onto standard nozzle bodies, Hypro product manager Roger James reported that sales of the ESI nozzle “have gone from strength to strength in the Uk and overseas markets”

And we can report that here at Agratech, the ESI nozzle has been a sell-out in the last few weeks! Our new stock is due any day, so order your ESI nozzles now to avoid disappointment!!

Broadway Star meets perfect match

Lurmark F110 Nozzle

According to manufacturer Dow AgroSciences, their new graminicide Broadway Star is proving to be a huge hit!

The manufacturers claim that its as good as Axial, Topik and Atlantis on wild oats, better than the latter and the specific brome killers on bromes, and generally speaking better than Axial on ryegrass. And then you can add a much wider range of broadleaved weeds to its spectrum than any of those products, plus no following crop or cultivation restrictions – an issue for some Atlantis users, in particular.

Application advice:

Broadway Star is a contact herbicide that needs active weed growth for best results, according to Stuart Jackson, Dow’s technical specialist says.

Like grassweed sulfonylureas its performance is affected by cold weather slowing or stopping weed growth, so he recommends it is only applied when there are clear signs of active growth, such as a new leaf emerging or, more crudely, when the lawn needs cutting. Timing trials have also suggested best results from when soil temperatures are 8C or above at a 10cm depth.

It is also crucial for spray quality to be fine, or on the finer side of the medium spectrum. “At the moment we are recommending a conventional flat-fan nozzle at 130-150 litres/ha water volume to provide the best combination of droplet size and coverage,” says Mr Jackson.
